Drunk Driving Defense in DuPage County and Lake County

A criminal conviction for DUI/DWI can have a serious impact on your way of life - your driver's license could be suspended which impacts your job and personal life. If you've been charged with driving under the influence (first offense DUI or felony DUI), it is smart to hire an experienced and aggressive DUI defense lawyer.

At the Katz Law Office of Chicago, we are dedicated to helping members of our community deal with DUI charges and manage the potential consequences of conviction. We will do our best to minimize your exposure to harsh penalties while helping you to retain your driving privileges. In addition, we help members of our immigrant community protect their immigration status after a DUI arrest.

Contact our Chicago, Illinois, DUI defense attorneys today to schedule an initial consultation regarding your case. Hablamos Español - Our Chicago DUI lawyers speak fluent Spanish and can guide you throughout the legal process in plain language that you can understand.

We will examine every aspect of your DUI case, from your initial DUI arrest through booking, your stay in jail, and your release:

  • Was there sufficient probable cause for your traffic stop?
  • Were you properly arrested and informed of your Miranda rights?
  • Were you properly warned of the consequences of breath test refusal?
  • Did you blow less than a .08 but were arrested anyway?

If there are holes in the state's case, or if mistakes were made regarding your arrest, we will find them and use them to your advantage. If evidence was obtained illegally, we will move to quash that evidence and have the case against you dismissed.

Drunk Driving and Your Driver's License

If the arresting officer determines that your blood alcohol content (BAC) is over the legal limit by "blowing" over .08 on the breathalizer, your driver's license will be automatically suspended for 3 months after the 46th day from the date of the arrest. However, in order to protect your driver's license, you must request an administrative hearing - this is separate from your criminal DUI case. If you fail to request a hearing, your driver's license can be suspended for 3-6 months (first offense DUI), or longer if you have a prior DUI conviction.

Get Your License Back: We fight to protect your driving privileges. Also, if your license has been revoked, we petition to rescind (cancel) the license suspension and reinstate your driver's license.

If you have been pulled over for drunk driving and face DUI charges, contact our Chicago, Illinois, DUI defense lawyers today and take advantage of an initial consultation regarding your case.
