Katz Law Office, Ltd. A fast paced law firm has an immediate opening for a Bilingual (English/Spanish) Attorney to join their team in Lake County, Illinois.

Job Description:

Spanish fluent Illinois licensed attorney with exceptional research and legal drafting skills needed to support attorney work in several areas of law, including immigration, bankruptcy, mortgage foreclosure and loan modification, family, criminal, among others.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Includes, but not limited to:

  • Requires a natural talent for writing and research.
  • Ability to produce exceptional work within a short amount of time, as numerous assignments will always be in the queue.
  • Great intro position for someone who has this talent but minimal experience, and wants to learn a great deal quickly in many areas of law.

Job Requirements:

  • Juris doctorate degree
  • Minimum of 3 years practicing law in a law firm or legal department of a business or government agency
  • Active member in good standing with the State Bar of Illinois
  • Knowledge of immigration, bankruptcy, mortgage foreclosure including loan modifications, family and criminal law
  • Ability to deal with legal issues in a practical and efficient manner
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to persuade and present positions effectively yet inoffensively
  • Flexibility and willingness to work under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word
  • Internet and research savvy is a Must


Compensation and Benefits:

Bilingual Paralegal (English/Spanish)

Job Description:

Candidate must be professional, organized; self motivated and be able to complete assignments with little supervision. Candidate must also be able to multi-task a consistent work load, have excellent computer skills and have weekend availability.


Job Responsibilities:

Includes, but not limited to:

  • Summarizing legal documents.
  • Checking legal forms for accuracy.
  • Filings of legal documents with court clerks  
  • Prepares legal documents such as complaints, answers, discovery, motions,, pleadings, wills, pre-trial memos, HAMP packets, ,  deeds, and power of attorneys for review, approval, and used by attorneys.
  • Prepares immigration applications and any supporting documents.
  • Bankruptcy filings
  • Meetings with clients.
  • Translations during meetings and/or translations of documents 
  • Prepares affidavits of documents, declarations and maintains document file.
  • Performing records research, legal research and coordinating research


Job Requirements:

  • Associate's degree is required
  • Certified Paralegal (CP) credential or Registered Paralegal (RP) is desired
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Good writing and communication skills 
  • Ability to prioritize and work under a tight schedule 
  • In depth knowledge of legal terminology and principles 
  • Ability to analyze legal documents for accuracy
  • Internet Savvy is a plus

Bilingual Legal Assistant (English/Spanish)

Job Description:

Candidate must be professional, organized; self motivated, responsible, and hard working. A focused team member who can multi-task, be able to handle a substantial work load with a positive attitude. They must have solid organizational and phone skills with excellent customer service, be able to managing attorneys’ calendars; data entry, file maintenance, and miscellaneous project work, as well as other duties.

Job Responsibilities:

Includes, but not limited to:

  • Assisting attorneys/paralegals and other office personnel
  • Answering and directing client/potential client phone calls and inquiries
  • Making photocopies of correspondence/ documents, faxing, scanning, and mailing
  • Maintaining inventory of office forms, supplies and other documents
  • Keep telephone logs, take messages, prepare corporate minute books
  • Enter/updated client information into our database
  • Planning and scheduling meeting and conferences
  • Checking and updating court conflicts
  • Exercise good judgment in recognizing scope of authority and protecting confidential information

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be fluent both English and Spanish
  • Associate's degree is desired
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Outlook, and Word
